Curriculum Saint Joseph School is a Catholic Christian community. Gospel values are taught and teachers take seriously their responsibility to help students develop a relationship with God. The student population is ethically, racially and economically diverse. The faculty strives to model the teachings of Jesus, and to inspire their students to live their lives as children of God. Our culture is rooted in the examples of Saint Vincent de Paul, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, founders of the Daughters of Charity, the community that has staffed Saint Joseph School since its inception. The importance of recognizing the needs of those beyond our school community, particularly the very poor, in emphasized through prayer and service.

It is the mission of St. Joseph School to assist parents in the education of their children. In order to maintain open communication with the parents, teachers are readily available to meet with parents both before and after school. The administration also practices an open door policy and is open to change and suggestions of parents. St. Joseph School is dedicated to educating the whole person. In addition to academic subjects, the school also provides music, art, physical education, and virtues of the month.

St. Joseph School provides an environment in which students are given the opportunity to grow into well-rounded, self-confident individuals with a healthy awareness and concern for others. Each day begins with a reflection and prayer based on the gospel of the day and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to encourage patriotism. On a monthly basis, the students prepare and celebrate the liturgy during which faculty and staff recognize students for displaying particular virtues. Parents are invited to share this celebration of the child's achievement. Regular collections of money and goods encourages concern for the poor in our students.

Encouraging students to achieve academic excellence is important to us, but helping them to grow spiritually through increased awareness of their Catholic faith, and fostering in them a desire to serve others is what we strive to instill in every child. The cooperation between parents and school in achieving these goals for our students is what makes St. Joseph School an educational environment where Faith and Family First is more than our motto and logo. It is who we are as a school community!
