Each fall and spring Saint Joseph School hosts the Scholastic Book Fair which serves multiple purposes. It is a way for us to acquire new books for the library, is a fundraiser for the school, and provides an opportunity to purchase new books for our students. The fair is also an opportunity to donate books to your child’s class. Teachers have submitted Wish Lists of books that would enrich their classroom libraries. When you visit the fair, you can find out which books they have requested with a bookplate identifying your child or family as the donor.
The book fair is held during school hours with extended hours for parents who are unable to come in during the school day. Flyers are sent home that lists some of the books that are available for purchase, and the reading level of each. There will be paperback books suitable for all ages, on a variety of subjects, both fiction and non-fiction, at all reading levels.
Students should have money with them to purchase books when they visit the book fair. They may return a second time near the end of the fair for additional purchases they wish to make. If there are not enough copies of a particular book on hand to accommodate students, orders will be taken and called in to the distributor. These orders must be paid in advance. If you send a check with your child, please make it payable to Saint Joseph School. Credit cards are also accepted.
We depend on parents to volunteer and assist us with this project in order to ensure its success.
