Kindergarten 1 - Mrs. Kathleen Rose

A Fun Place to Be
The Kindergarten Program tries to meet the needs of different types of learners. It fosters exploration, questioning, and active learning. The children learn in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Kindergarten is a place to work, play, meet friends, and feel good about yourself!

Religion
The Religion Program focuses on family and friends, creation, God's Storybook, our world and special times. The children also lead the school in prayer and song at the May liturgy. The children are encouraged to live what they learn.

Language Arts
The Language Arts Program is literacy based, developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. By developing a good foundation of these skills, the children will have a lifetime love of learning.

Mathematics
The Mathematics Program builds an understanding of fundamental math concepts - from concrete manipulatives to pictorial representations to abstract symbols. Real-life problem-solving situations give the children the reinforcement they need for a solid start in mathematics.

Social Studies
The Social Studies Program introduces the children to the people and customs of their community, country, and world. Thematic Units and trade books are a major component of the program.

Science
The Science Program uses hands on activities and experiments to help the children gain an understanding and appreciation of God's world. Thematic Units and trade books are a major component of the program.

Art
The Art Program allows the children to experiment with a variety of medium to create unique and beautiful work. Their art work reflects the many gifts God has given us. The program centers on seasonal activities and extends across the curriculum.

A note from Mrs. Rose:

Communication
A weekly newsletter is sent home every Friday informing parents/guardians of all that has been done that week. Information about upcoming events and any help needed is also included. Anyone with questions or concerns may call the school and leave a message. I will return your call within 24 hours - usually that same day.

Any money sent to school should be in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name, amount, and reason it is being sent to school.

A note must be sent to school explaining any changes in your child's dismissal. This avoids possible confusion and assures everyone that your child is safe at all times.
