BINGO

Why is BINGO so important to St. Joseph School?
BINGO is currently the largest outside contribution of funds to our school.

Cost to Educate Each Student at St. Joseph School
Actual Cost - $11,500
Current Tuition - $6,450

Without BINGO your tuition would be an additional $5,050

Your participation is imperative to keeping our tuition affordable for all families.

BINGO is held in the school gym every Friday evening and is run by parents and volunteers.

  • Parents are required to work (2) three-hour shifts – one per semester – for each child enrolled in school. School year is July 1 -  June 30.
  • Parents can arrive starting at 4:30pm and work the 3 hours between 4:30pm - 8:30pm.
  • You must sign the BINGO sign-in sheet to get credit for your shift. You may not be signed in by another parent.
  • Dates are assigned by the BINGO Coordinator will be posted on the Web site.
  • If you are unable to attend your assigned date, either have a substitute perform it for you or you must come within 4 weeks after the scheduled date.
  • Makeup BINGO assignments may NOT be completed in the last four weeks of school
  • In lieu of working BINGO, parents may pay an additional $500/child for tuition.
  • Once a family fulfills their three-hour fall BINGO commitment for each child in the family, they will receive a $250 adjustment to their tuition, applied in December for the January monthly payment.
  • Once a family fulfills their three-hour spring BINGO commitment for each child in the family, they will receive a $250 adjustment to their tuition, applied in May for the June monthly payment.
  • A list of those families who do not work their BINGO shifts will be provided to Dr. Merritt on a monthly basis.

TEAMS

 

In addition, to keep Bingo viable, there will be tuition relief available as an incentive and separate from the adjustment mentioned above for parents wishing to join a team and be trained to perform the necessary jobs required on a weekly basis.

We will be accepting volunteers for the staffing of the 4 core teams who will be required to come to Bingo ONCE EVERY 4 WEEKS. These core teams will be trained to do calling, banking, selling, set-up, etc. These are key jobs that require a little more training and a lot more commitment.

  • Being on a team will fulfill your 6 hours per child commitment mentioned above AND give your family an additional scholarship depending upon the positions being filled, as noted.
  • Team members will need to be present 13 Fridays for anywhere between 3.5-6 hours (depending upon the job).
  • The Bingo year starts in July through June.

JOBS

Main Bankers (full night) – People that are comfortable with numbers and are thorough. Main banker collects initial receipts, breaks them up in into game prizes and prepares bank deposit. Also monitors the check-in/out of volunteers.

Charity Bankers - People that are comfortable with numbers and are thorough. The charity banker balances pull tab boxes and reports the figures to the main banker.

Set-Up – Setup site for the start of Bingo. Setup person picks up the keys, purchase milk for coffee (reimbursed the same night), gets the coffee going, turns on the lights, puts away inventory, sets up traffic cones, sets up bingo board , tv(s), microphones, etc.

  • Schedule - They need to be at school to open up at 3:30pm and can leave by 5:30pm.

  • Scholarship - $300

Cashier – People that are comfortable with handling money and are thorough. Sell Bingo attendance tickets. This person also assists with charity game sales, 50/50 sales and 8th grade raffle sales after Bingo starts.

  • Scholarship - $300

Bingo Games - Distribute bingo game sheets, collect and count attendance tickets. This person also assists with charity game sales, 50/50 sales and 8th grade raffle sales after bingo starts.

50/50 Game Clerk – Sell 50/50 game sheets. We now have two separate 50/50 games per Bingo night. This person also assists with charity game sales, and 8th grade raffle sales after Bingo starts.

Floor Banker/Support - They work on the Bingo floor and hand out the winnings. They call back winning sheet number to the caller for verification.

Seller/Support – Assist with back office bingo tasks, sell charity tickets, 50/50 sheets and 8th grade raffle tickets after bingo has started. Work on the bingo floor and hand out the winnings and call back winning sheet number to the caller for verification when needed.

Caller - They call the bingo ball numbers to the crowd, verify winners, announce games, etc.

Charity Game Ticket Pickup and Bingo Program Pickup (part night)Pick up Charity game ticket order from the Mass Lottery Warehouse (Braintree, MA) and deliver to St. Joseph School Bingo room. The pick up/delivery can be any weekday during school hours. Pick up/deliver Bingo program order from Printing Unlimited (Holbrook, MA) to St. Joseph School Bingo Room. Orders are sent in by Member-in-Charge.

    • Charity Game Pickup/Delivery - Bi-weekly - 9am – 2pm
    • Bingo Program Pickup/Delivery – Monthly - 9am – 2pm

Member(s) –In-Charge (MIC) – Responsible for all Bingo Operation, establishing bingo teams and setting team schedule, ordering bingo supplies, ordering charity game tickets, parent assignment schedule management and interfacing with MA Lottery.

We will begin reviewing applications and set-up teams to begin for the summer. Training will begin as soon as possible. Credits for tuition will occur in June 2018 based on your commitment.
